Announced over Instagram at 12:37 am, the musician Q-Tip posted a list of names which included: “@michellemayer, @mrgeorgehedge, @chantelneal, @gblay, @lecinero and the other I want to but can’t include in the post, Virgil Abloh.”
Abloh is well known in the fashion industry for creating the Opening Ceremony line, which he joined in the late 1990s after a career in music and branding. But it was with Apple that Abloh really came into his own. During a 2014 show, which was called “Retrospect” and showcased Apple’s line of iMac computers, Abloh brought out some significant visitors to the Westfield Topanga Mall: Kanye West, Ron Howard, Cameron Diaz, and Jay-Z, who stopped in to take a quick photo with the designer, but also posted on Instagram, “I love this shit. It’s just good.”
Without confirming or denying that he will be taking over Yeezy for the end of the year, Abloh did release a tweet on Sunday: “Today I made some great memories with some friends. It’s going to take some real work, lots of real people in the studio, and some serious grit to make me wear a clothesline with a bandana. Right now, it’s some pics,” it said. “When you have a bad day, remember to snap and take pictures. Some day, it will make someone remember how much they like you! Love y’all.”
Another tweet said, “Sorry, I can’t tell you what I’m doing in 11 months. Just know that I’m happy and proud to have been able to change two lives.”
Also rumored to be out of his plans is his collaboration with Louis Vuitton. Last week, Abloh said in an interview with New York, “Yeezy is always there, but a part of me and a part of Yeezy have always been as different as mountains. If I do something with Louis Vuitton, it’s going to be amazing. I can’t tell you about it now, because it’s so highly secret and built up, and if I started spilling the beans it might affect things.” That photo may be an indication of things to come.

That’s right: “if I start spilling the beans,” it could be that we will find out this week about Abloh’s latest job.
On August 14, Yeezy dropped its first new track in three years, “Green Lights,” after a hiatus of about two years. The track features 4-year-old Hendrix. Cute and what could possibly be sadder?
